MENA MAKER INITIATIVE — DRAWING NO. MMI‑004

Join the Board

Four founding leadership positions. Each board member owns a core function of MMI, has the autonomy to improve it, and works closely with the rest of the board to shape the organization's growth. As MMI expands, board members will recruit, mentor, and lead volunteers or interns within their area — building teams that multiply MMI's impact across the region.

Before you apply: every seat here has a genuine deliverable attached — blueprints published, translations shipped, fairs indexed, sign-ups driven. This is a working board, not an honorary one. If that's what you want, keep reading.

01RolesThe Four Seats

What each seat actually does

Seat 01

Research & Resources Lead

Owns MMI's educational resource ecosystem — researching opportunities, competitions, scholarships, and programs across the region, maintaining the Regional Pipeline Index, verifying information, and keeping resources accurate and up to date. You'll identify gaps in what's available, recommend new blueprint topics based on student needs, and help ensure every resource students rely on is trustworthy, relevant, and evidence-based.

~3–5 hrs/weekStrong research, fact-checking, and organizational skills
Seat 02

Arabic Technical Lead

Acts as MMI's final technical quality check before publication. Every blueprint passes through your review to verify engineering accuracy, technical consistency, and overall trustworthiness. Arabic versions begin as AI-assisted drafts, which you'll carefully verify and refine using correct technical terminology before they're published. If a resource carries the MMI name, this role helps ensure students can trust it.

~3–5 hrs/weekFluent technical Arabic requiredPrior engineering experience helpful, not extensive
Seat 03

Marketing & Outreach Manager

Owns MMI's public presence — from social media and partnerships to outreach with schools, STEM communities, and student organizations across the region. You'll help grow our audience, recruit members, promote initiatives like the Horizon Challenge, and ensure MMI reaches the students who need it most. Content needs to work as native Arabic marketing, not translated-after-the-fact English — this role requires genuine fluency and cultural fluency, not just a language skill.

~3–5 hrs/weekArab native speaker requiredEqually strong in Arabic & English contentOutreach or community-building experience a plus
Seat 04

Operations & Community Manager

Keeps MMI running smoothly behind the scenes by overseeing onboarding, volunteer coordination, challenge/events registrations, project tracking, and day-to-day operations. You'll build the systems that keep projects moving, support team members, and help create an organized, welcoming community.

~3–5 hrs/weekOrganized, proactive, and comfortable managing moving parts
02ProcessHow Applications Work

What happens after you apply

02

Short follow-up conversation

A quick call or message exchange with the Executive Director — not a formal interview, just making sure the fit is real on both sides.

03

Onboarding
